Basic questions from students; resources for projects and reports.

Currently, my company plans to buy a LCMS. Our goal is to use a LCMS to cover confirming (quantitative) and screening (qualitative) in pesticides and drugs in water and produce/food. After I read some vendor's introduction materials, it seems ion trap can do both quantitative and qualitative analysis. As I am new to LCMS, I welcome any suggestion on ion trap (Pro and Con).
Thanks a lot!
For quantitative work most contract labs I have been in were using triple Quad instruments
Good judgment comes from bad experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
a triple quad is the typical instrument for quantitative work, but it is possible to quantify with an ion trap (I believe it's just that you won't usually get quite such good precision). In any case, the best thing to do is to give some samples to the manufacturers and ask for quantitative results: reproducibility and detection limits, and trust the numbers rather than the brochures. Any reputable company will be delighted to help. Incidentally, a company that sells both sorts of instrument is likely to give you a less-biased answer about which is best for your task.
Good luck!
