Peak Area

I just want to inquire what would be the cause of getting a larger peak area on small level of concentration (10ppm CO, CO2 and CH4) and a small peak area on a higher level of concentration (40ppm CO, CO2 and CH4). I am currently using system GC Shimadzu GC 14-B with FID.

A bit of dead volume in the system might produce a shoulder peak.

hi,
i use FID to ananlyse hydrocarbon in petrolum product. I think maybe youre column is too short to separate the compound if the two compound RT are very close. that's my guess
