What are people's thoughts on this? My company recently changed our two older 6890 GC systems to Empower. Overall, Empower is much better software than ChemStation, for data handling and processing, security and 21CFR11 compliance, run control and so on. However, the controls for the GC in Empower seem to be really half-assed. It is missing something like the Acquity console for GC that would let you monitor the output from the FID in realtime without having to load a method. It also seems to have no way to initiate a column comp in Empower, or view the output. And it is missing basic flow, pressure and velocity calculators that are built in to ChemStation.

We might still be able to bail on transitioning the newer 7890 GC systems. I plan to see how it goes on the 6890's and see, but based on what I've seen, I'd be concerned that any advanced features of the 7890 would not be supported and that it would be even more disappointing. I'm interested to hear if anyone else has any experience with a move like this.
