Diode Array question (wavelength range)

Hello, I have very little DAD experience, so my apologies if my question is trivial.
I have heard conflicting "practices" that if you collect the spectrum from 190 to 400nm, the peak of interest should be pure (ie a threshold of 990-995) across the entire spectrum.
I have also heard that another "practice" is that purity only needs ot be demonstrated (ie threshold of 990-995) at least +/- 10nm from the acquisition wavelength.
Would love to hear some thoughts.
Thanks in advance.
