Hi all..I need your help..
Is it possible to analyze glucosamine HCl and Chondroitin SO4 in same column using UV detector?
I have tried it before using ODS Hypersil column, and the peaks look great..
But I have another problem..
--> When I injected glucosamine alone, There are two peaks..which one of them has similar retention time with the peak of Chondroitin SO4.
--> When I injected chondroitin alone, There are two peaks..which one of them has similar retention time with the peak of Glucosamine HCl.

Does the glucosamine contain some chondroitin and otherwise? If it so, is it possible to analyze them in a same column?
For your info, I use Methanol/ water as diluent and Acetonitrile / Phosphoric acid for the mobile phase..

Thank u .. :)
UV activity of glucosamine is overrated. Here is method fro simultaneous analysis of glucosamine and chondroitin. Chondroitin is a polymer and you need to use ion-exclusion/size exclusion approach to elute it as relatively sharp peak:

Please pay attention to the flow rate. Chondroiin and chloride are eluting before void.

My opinions might be bias, but I have about 1000 examples to support them. Check our website for new science and applications

thanks a lot Vlad... :D

But..I just have UV/VIS detector..
So, it is possible to do it?
:)
