Hello everyone, I am so grateful to you for answering these questions as well as advice from you.
1. I analyze Metformin with HPLC and recieved a long - tailng peak, therefore I added a little Trimethylamine to my buffer to shorten my peak's tailing. It appears to work, my peak becames better. But I wonder if there are some problems happen beside this good side?

2. Can elements of mobile phase (pH, composition ...) increase or decrese peak's area?
To add TMA will give you better peak shape. Beside that you can try a more base buffer or columns with lower silanol activity.
As long as you separate standard and sample under the same conditions you are on the save side. Good luck.

Thank to Gerhard Kratz for your answer. This helps me a lot!
What is the method you are using for analysis of Metformin?

I need help for a similar analysis.

I tried to use ion pair like Heptane sulfonic acid and TEA with no effect.

Can I use TFA 0.1% ?

What column type are you using?

Please help.

Here is a method with perfect peak shape and retention control. Metformin is retained by combination of weak reversed-phase and strong cation-exchange mechanisms:
