AAS - Difraction Grating 1200 Lines/mm Vs 1800 Lines/mm

Hi All,
I am working on the specs for purchasing Atomic Absorption Spectrometer. and noticed that some of the models have Difraction Grating 1200 Lines/mm and some have 1800 Lines/mm.

The most i get from internet searching is that higher grating = better resolution. well not much of an optics expert but does anyone have any idea how will that translate to the analysis sensitivity and LOD?

If you like to dig into the theoretical stuff.

In theory, if only n of grooves were increased and everything else were kept constant, the more narrow band you get but signal to noise ratio may decrease if noise is same. Of course you can get reduced interferences from disturbing elements if you have such in your applications.

Comparing 2 different instruments becomes even more complicated as, the width of slits,pixels
diffraction phenomenas,quality of components,alignment etc comes into play. Sure one would expect a better LOD for a newer model with increased grooves, but I would recommend to compare specifications for both intruments and see what may be improving for your specific applications.
