Hi I would like to know the major differences between HPLC and LCMS.
I have to compile a datasheet for the analysis of sildenafil citrate in traditional chinese medicine and my lecturer said that LCMS is suitable for this.
LC-MS is a "hybrid" system in which a mass spectrometer replaces the more usual UV absorbance detector in an HPLC system.

Generally speaking, LC-MS is more specific and (especially in "tandem" LC-MS/MS) more sensitive than standard HPLC. It is also more expensive and complex.
