Detection of Ethanol using Purge and Trap

Hello,

We have a client that is looking to have us run analysis for Ethanol at a detection limit of 400 ug/L. We were looking to see if anyone has tried Purge and Trap and if they have made any changes from the typical 820B method?

Are you still using a #10 OI trap (tenax/silica gel)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

I am currently working on a #7 Trap. Was able to achieve the 400ug/L in Scan mode. Now working on getting lower detection limits.

I am going to run with the following operation conditions

sample temp 60C
11 min purge at 40C
2 min desorb at 190C
standard water management settings

I am also going to try to run in SIM mode as the retention time has been established using Scan mode.

You should be able to hit that level easily. See an application note below:
