Agilent 1200 coupled to BioQ

Hello,

I am currently using an Agilent 1200 HPLC system linked to a MicroMass/Waters BioQ with MassLynx v3.5 software. The machine was running fine but lately it has started stopped randomly (not every run) about 1 minute into a run, the autosampler comes up with a red light and the message 'HP1100 Pump Communications, HP1100 System-Unexpected change in configuration' occurs on the computer.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and might know what to do? The technician in our lab doesn't have a clue what is wrong and it is really urgent that I get this working otherwise I am looking at 10x12 hours+ 'babysitting' the machine to get my PhD samples run rather than 6 overnight runs!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Update: I am getting HP1100 autosampler error code 4120?! If anyone knows what this means it would be great!
What happens when you restart the entire instrument (excluding the MS itself)? Does the autosampler give any loading or initialization errors?

Check all wires and connections. Also check how the instrument is communicating with the computer and that all connections are firmly in place.
Hi,

I have restarted the system and it comes on with no synchronisation errors and we have also checked all the cables and they appear connected with no problems. The mystery autosampler issues still remain!
