Hello everyone. I'm new in the forum. I hope to express myself clearly enough since my English is pretty basic. I'm trying to open a *. sms file from a Varian Workstation with the sotfware AMDIS. The following message appears: "Fast User Switching must be disabled for reliable operation of the Varian Workstation. This feature must be disabled by an Administrator."

Can anyone tell me what to do? I do not understand if this is something that I have to change in settings of AMDIS or it is about something that have to be changed in the Varian Workstation. I have no access to the Varian GC MS, other send me the file.

Thanks for your help!
If you ignore the message can you continue to run AMDIS? I recall seeing that message sseveral years ago, but I was working on a computer separate from the instrument workstation, If the software continued to run, I ignored the message. If the software will not run after displaying the message, look at the WWW.NIST.GOV web site to see if you can get a newer version of AMDIS.
Provided that you have Administrator privileges, click on Start and then select Control Panel. When the Control Panel Program Group dialog box is displayed, select User Accounts. From the User Accounts dialog box, select Change the way users log on or off. In the resulting dialog box, select Use the Welcome screen. If this does not deselect the Use Fast User Switching, deselect it. Complete the task by clicking on the Apply Options button.

To download a newer version of AMDIS go to http://chemdata.nist.gov and select the AMDIS link. The link the previous poster gave is the long way to where you want to be.

Your English is very understandable.
Regards;
David
