Hello,

I have a question about making samples report in Empower 2. Just some precisions about the way we used to work : for an analysis we inject first standard curve, 1 control sample and after that n samples in duplicates (means to preparation thus 2 lines in the sample set).
I want to create a report in one shot. Its means that I want to have all standards, control sample and 1 table and chromatogram for each sample name. I dont know how to make to group each sample name. And an other problem is that in every analysis we dont have the same number of samples and I couldnt use the label. or I dont how to do it...
Any one have an idea to help me
Thank you verry much in advance 8)
Nobody want to help me???
You can use labels.
Spl1, rep 1 U0101
Spl1, rep 2 U0102

Spl2, rep 1 U0201
Spl2, rep 2 U0202

Make composite group including standards and sample tables, then Filter by label U010*

Copy this, paste, change Order/Group to U020*, repeat pattern as needed.

It may be crude, but it is effective.
Thanks,
DR

Make a summary by all report and then group together what you want to be together, rather like in power point into a composite group.
Decide the order ( most folks do it by date acquired) and it all should do it aurtomatically regardless of number of samples.

If you wanted to put the duplicate injections overlaid and put in the same table to get an average, there are tricks using Order By and on the same tab, Group By which might get you where you want to be.

Try posting this in the Waters online community to see if they can answer it better..

Just saw you wanted group by sample name... So order first by date, then by sample name and then group by samplename.
Thank you verry much everybody.
I'm gonna try....
Have a nice day
I juste need some precisions. When Im doing a composite group in the report, I need to "tell" the report how many samples I have. One group for each sample. But the problem is that every sample set is different. Once we analyse 10 samples and once after 13....
I cant have only one report? Does it exist a way to have a "universal" report ?

Thank you for your answer
What we do - we have a table in the report method for each group. These tables look for U01*, U02*, U03* and so on for groups 1, 2, 3 etc. Thsi way, you can have as many samples in each group as you want.

All you have to do is make sure that each sample within a given group has label U0101, U0102, U0103... for 1st group, U0201, U0202, U0203... for second group and so on.
These changes can be made most easily in the sample set method editor. Use the wizard to get close, then edit the resulting sample set method to fine tune.

Thank you for your answer, but maybe I understand wrong... The problem for our activity is that we dont analyze the same numbers every time. Some time we analyze 3 samples, some times 10... And if I make the report as you tell me, I have to make groups with labels. But I have to programm first how many groups I need... And if for example I programe 10 groups and I have only 3 samples, Empower will makes a error in the report.
Do you have any idea how can I do to dont specify Empower how groups i have to use...
I hope that my message is clear enough
Thank you in advance for your help :P
I have not found a way around that except for deleting extra tables in the report method before printing your report. If the similar tables (one for each group) are arranged in the report so that the bottom edge of one lies on the top edge of the next one, there are no empty blank tables printed. You will generate one line of error code for each empty table. These entries can be pushed to their own page at end of the report by adding a page break to the bottom edge of the last table.
Thanks,
DR

Empower provides also an SDK. To my own disgrace, I have to admit that I never used the SDK from Empower. Empower itselfs have more functions, then normal users can handle. Nevertheless a complex report 'in one shoot' is very ambitious. Some years ago, I have made the admission to mark my injections in empower and print several different summary-reports manually.
