Hydrocarbon standards

Discussions about GC and other "gas phase" separation techniques.

Hello guys

I am a fatty acid guy and run marine oil samples pretty much as standard.

I am looking at a series of cyanobacteria from cold climates and getting a whole lot of hydrocarbons on some lipid class analysis and GCMS
I was wondering if there was anyone out there in the wider group that uses a hydrocarbon standard (eg Decane, Hexadecane, Tetratriacontane etc mix) that they could recommend. I just want to confirm retention time and MS to something as I am not that familiar with these compounds. I usually get my FAME standards from NuChek.

Is there any hints when analysing/extracting hydrocarbons

Cheers for any help you can offer.

The Mojo is there. Look for it?
All the chromatography companies have off-the-shelf hydrocarbon mixes.

Alkane hydrocarbons are very tractable chromatographically, but their MSs are very poor in structural information.

aamorin - you will be getting an enquiry from me through your website.
