CN columns for analysis of amines

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has experience in using LICHROSPHER 100 CN and/or PHENOMENEX Luna 3u/5u CN columns for analysis of amines?

I was hoping to use for analysis of melamine and its analogs such as cyanuric acid, but I can only buy one CN column, so I wondered if anyone has used them before and can provide feedback.

Not sure why you are using a cyano column, but a quick search on the internet showed quite a few applications on melamine and there were a wide range of columns used : C18, C8, HILIC, Mixed-mode.

Please note CN columns DO NOT last nearly as long as C18s

Though I have used neither of the columns you mentioned, I think Type B silica is the way to go. From this point I think Luna would probably be the better choice.

I do not wish to use ion pairing agents, so C18 and C8 are out. I am trying out two types of HILIC columns at the same time, but wish to try CN columns as well. Thus, the question. Thanks again!
