I am about to install an Agilent Mol Sieve 5A into a 5972 MS.
30 M, 0.32 mm, 0.25 um coating

Are there any precautions to consider?
I am concerned about particles from the PLOT column
contaminating the 5972 MS.

Do you suggest a downstream trap?
Would a "column quick connect" into the MS be a good idea?

I would recommend you install after your column a piece of thick film methyl silicone narrow bore capillary column, 1 micron 0,25mm ID a few meters of length would do. This acts as a sticky trap for any particles broken off from the sieve.

+1 on the particle trap. I installed a PLOT column in our MS against the advice of our service rep. I added a particle trap and didn't have a lot of problems. I should add that I valved the GC so I could select either a DB1 column or the PLOT column. I always left the DB1 column "in service" with the PLOT purged to vent whenever the GC/MS wasn't used. This minimized the chance that a stray particle would enter the MS
