appropriate temperatures GC

Hi every body...

PLZ, what is the appropriate temperatures setting in GC for compounds, I mean what is the rule for setting temp. for injector, column and detector. I set this conditions for ethanol:
Injector: 150 c
Column: 90 c
Detector: 190 c
Is this right?

Depending on the column, injector and column temperatures look to be OK. Detector temperature depends on the detector.

So, what column and detector? (And have you checked the manual for the instrument for standard detector conditions. Most of manuals for newer instruments can be found on line.)

Don is correct.

You could increase all three temperatures to 200°C and still be fine, as long as your column can tolerate that temperature.

I would not go below 150°C for injector or detector in most circumstances.

I would not go below 60°C for the column. But there are exceptions for special circumstances.
