Would like to get some help on how to separate a pair of diastereomers. Some suggestions so far: if reverse phase then go with a PFP column, or maybe even Hilic if using Mass Spec; or a ZirChrom-CARB. Which one has the better chance? and in what coniditons?

Very polar compounds with amine functional groups. Your best bet is HILIC on a silica (or hybrid) column with pH control (Atlantis HILIC silica or XBridge BEH HILIC, high %acetonitrile - water pH 4.5 with ammonium acetate). This is better than a PFP choice, since this packing will work via residual silanols anyway.
I know nothing about the applicability of ZirChrom-Carb.
