I have a question regarding the relative retention times of VOC and various CFC and HCFCs on a GS-carbonPlot column (Agilent).
I already asked Agilent for help but without success as this column is intented for light alkanes (C1-C4) so they have no idea where halogenated compounds elute (with the exception of methylchloride). Since I don´t have a scanning mass spec available for identification but only an IRMS, peak identifcation is a very hard job given the large zoo of the many CFC and HCFCs compounds in the atmosphere.
What I know is the retention of the following compounds: CH4,Kr, CF4, CO2, N2O, C2H2, C2H4, C2H6 and probably CH3Cl and C3H8.
If you have any experience with this column I am interested to know where CFCs like CClF2, CCl3F, C2HF5, C2F6 and HCFC-141b will elute relative to my known compounds.
So, I am very glad for any help..
cheers
Jochen
