I have a 5980 II plus and 5872 MS. there is a message in the GC " no detector" after that the GC is peeping and gos to safety shut down. any help

As I remember the message is normal, as to the shutdown I'm stumped.

Push "clear" while it is beeping. That should cycle all of the issues that may be present with the instrument on the screen.

Is the red "not ready" diode illuminated?

Is the red "not ready" diode illuminated?[ yes ]. I did push the clear button but the GC went to Safety Shutdown

What did the screen indicate as not ready? The oven, inlet pressure, etc.? The screen will cycle all of the things that are not ready prior to it shutting down, and it may also do so after it has shut down.

It's been a while since I've had one shut down on me. Perhaps you need to cycle the power after the shutdown in order for it to have the chance to get ready again.

usually a gas pressure issue...

[quote="Consumer Products Guy"]usually a gas pressure issue...[how can i configure the detector]

usually a gas pressure issue...
I agree. We used to have three of the 5972 instruments, and one of them needed to have the EPC "E" or "F" set to 20 or 30 PSI in order for the inlet to not shut down.

how can i configure the detector
If you have only the MS, there is no configuration that you can do (or need to do).
