I want to install a Sedex 85LT ELSD on a HPLC system with HP1050 IEEE/GPIB connected components, and run on a Chemstation with version A.08(?). Is there a way to direct the ELSD signal into the Chemstation?

Yes. You need either an internal or external 35900 interface (an analog-to-digital converter).

Sally: what Analytes r you trying to quantify with your evaporative light scattering detector?

We have already developed and validated HPLC-ELSD methodologies for Gentamicin and Neomycin. We currently run HPLC-ELSD for these analytes on another HPLC system; but, due to work load and other considerations, we want to move the ELSD to the HP1050 / Chemstation HPLC system.

Hi, Sallybeetle -Yes. You need either an internal or external 35900 interface (an analog-to-digital converter).
You'll also have to use the external contact closure cable that (on the HP1100, anyway) attaches to the back of the pump. This is to signal the instrument to start/stop runs and to autozero. In my experience, the contact closure cable didn't connect easily to the ELSD - you have to get the correct cables and connectors - but it works well after doing it.
Also, if you want to shut off gas after the run, you can get a Gas Mizer - a nifty little item sold by (I believe) Ticoscen. There are lots of posts on here from Tim at Ticoscen. He'll help you out.

would you mind to share some details about the methods for Gentamicin and Neomycin? We have already developed and validated HPLC-ELSD methodologies for Gentamicin and Neomycin.

1050 pump and autosampler modules each have contact closures (believe both as contact #2).
