Hello everyone,
I'm now working to get dansylderivative and I have a problem in dissolving the dansyl chloride itself in Acetone (0.025 g in 25.0 mL Acetone)?
although all refernces talk about its solubility in Acetone
is the used acetone must be dry , and if yes How to get dry acetone?

hello you can diluted in acetonitril

sorry for my english

It is weird. I have used dansyl chloride for couple of years and never had any issue to dissovle in acetone. Did you use free base one? Because if it is salt, it will not dissolve in acetone

hello i have the same probleme and when i use acetonitrile it resolve all chromatographic probleme.

That's strange. I used to prepare dansyl chloride in acetone at 1mg/mL with no problems, and stored it at -20C. Have you been keeping yours sealed in the freezer?

hello sorry for long time there is 2 different dansyl chloride from sigma or fluka you keep the produc from fluka at -20°c and the product from sigma
at +4° and product from flucka is very high purity.

if you want test in acetonitrile and tell me want you think.

bye.
Dear All

I have the same problem. :(
How could be found a solution?
