Possible Novel Extraction for 1,2-EDB

I've been thinking about the GC-ECD methods 8011 and 504 that use hexane to extract 35mL of water in a voa with 2mL of hexane. Then 2uL is injected for analysis.

SW846 Method 3585 uses hexadecane to dilute oily material and then an aliquot is purged for 8260 VOC analysis. This works because hexadecane does not purge onto the trap.
What if we took a 40mL vial and removed 5mL then added 2-5mL of hexadecane and put it on a rotator followed by sonication and then take an aliquot of that to purge for 8260 SIM analysis. Potentially with 2mL hexadecane and and 35mL of sample purging 1mL of extract could get a one could get an ~8X concentration factor relative to purging 5mL of water.
I suppose it would depend on whether 1,2-DCA and 1,2-EDB would have a good partitioning into the hexadecane.

Comments?
I tried this out and putting the entire 2mL of hexadecane in the autosampler vial does not work. I'm going to try again with a smaller aliquot.
