Hello Group!

Working on upgrading a 5971/ 5890 with 1701BA Chemstation to run with Windows 10 and USB to HPIB interface.

Has anyone successfully accomplished this? I noticed a few historical posts where user member Dirkn compiled an amazing write-up and referenced the steps; however, did not include the additional information for the 5971

Would anyone out there be so kind to provide the information for the 5971 such as hardware required (Agilent USB to HPIB cable?), the arguments to configure the desktop shortcuts, edit win.ini installing the 5971, and USB drivers.

Currently have 1701BA license

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you All!
I dont have the answer to the question but I upgraded our old agilent gc-fid from gpib interface card(isa slot) to ethernet. That was very simple just new pci ethernet card upgrade kit from agilent and it came with new firmware chip. Chemstation installed fine. Cudos to agilent for writing good manuals.
To me ethernet seems the best way for communication but perhaps not possible in your situation.
I'm pretty sure this cannot be done. For one thing you need an older PC with an ISA bus to run the HPIB card that communicates with the instrument. That old PC hardware cannot run Windows 10. I have such an setup and the best i can do is run Win98 and I used some IDE to SATA adapters to let me put in a modern SATA drive in place of the old spinners. There might be a commercial solution but this is old old hardware.

I did the same thing with an old HPIB 6890. So I can run that system with WinXP and Chemstation D.02.
