C18 Column Selection

Discussions about HPLC, CE, TLC, SFC, and other "liquid phase" separation techniques.

Hello there! I am somewhat new to analytical chemistry as a whole and I wanted to get some opinions on which C18 column would be preferred to separate phosphatidylcholine's and other types of lipids that are in the same class. If anyone has any recommendations that would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance! :P
Not a "C18:, but a silica column.

Hi,

The analysis method performed with a column having a monolithic structure may be useful. Merck Chromolith columns will be suitable for this analysis.

I recommend GL Sciences columns for this analysis as well.

I hope the ones I posted do their job.
Hi Ddlidd,

YMC has some options for the analysis of phosphatidylcholine and other phospholipids with C18 columns. please keep in mind that you may want to have inert/biocompatible hardwares for this, so make sure you have both columns and HPLC instruments that do not have wettable parts made of stainless steel. Organophosphorous compounds may be very "sticky" to the steen surface due to lewis acid-lewis base kind of intermolecular interactions!

YMC has some work that has been published with Triart Accura series. The Triart series has some very pure and well endcapped silica and the Accura hardware is made of ss with the inner side covered with a thin ceramic layer that eliminates any possible secondary intermolecular interaction between molecule and ss. Please find some examles below:
