Anyone also using the Dionex GS50 pump out there.

i having a constant issue of pump leaks and fluctuating pressure after running it for a few weeks even after servicing.
i have changed piston seals, cleaned pump heads and even bypassed whatever i could bypass in the pump.

i am thinking of carrying out a major overhauling the pump. Anyone can advise how do i go about doing that?

Yes i used a GP50,

I literally posted this same problem a few weeks ago, i found a big leak, and after replacing and cleaning it appeared to be jumping a lot (like 30psi - 1700psi and back)

You say you have cleaned and replaced everything,

Make sure the bottom check valves have the 2 holes facing up and the top two check valves the one hole facing down. (also check the quality of the check valves if they need replacing)

You have put brand new check seals on which is important.

After your confident all this is done, you shud go through each individal tubing to find the problem (mine was after the mixing chamber to the check valves) . Obviosuly prime it and Pump about 5ml/min of your flush solvent through.

Then at 1ml/ml, and you should get a constant pressure, with a nice sounding pump.

Hi djay,

do you use piston seal wash? mine doesnt come with piston seal wash. Also i am wondering if your pump have o-rings before and after the primary pump head spacer because my pump does not have the o-rings and the eluent is leaking before and after the spacer.

joelyue,

I would recommend downloading the PDF users manual for the GS50 pump from the Dionex website:

http://www.dionex.com/en-us/webdocs/577 ... 03_V20.pdf

In section 5, there are diagrams showing the various parts that should be in your pump. In section E, you will find part numbers for reordering any damaged or missing parts. You may also find the troubleshooting section useful.

You should also consider ordering the GS50 PM kit (p/n 060685) and performing a full PM on your pump. The PM kit will include detailed instructions, pictures, and diagrams to guide you through the process.
