HILIC Acquity BEH amide column and NH4F

I have found various papers describing ammonium fluoride as a promising additive to the mobile phase in HILIC chromatography. However, I have not been able to find anyone reporting using it on an Acquity BEH amide column. It is also not listed in the column manual as one of the possible additives. I have concerns about its suitability for this column, is it compatible?

Hi helenaplesnik,

To preface, it should be completely fine to use this buffer in your application. But, I have found an article about using this buffer in HILIC systems here:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6950006/

They literally used the exact column that you are using. My one warning would be to pay close attention to the minimums of aqueous solvent that you are using as you may see precipitation of your salt at high-organic percentages. I really hope this helps! If you cant get access to the article, it is open source, let me know and I will send you over a copy!

Have a good one,
Tyler Smith.
