5973 bfb not passing and may be related to the ION focus

A friend is having an issue with the BFB tune and the source was cleaned twice to confirm the cleaning was done well. But after doing the bfb tune we noticed during and when we try to ramp the Ion focus the ions 50,69, and 131 were not smooth. all had a lot of static and we noticed the the dynamic entrance lenses were way different than previous tune, each time we ran the BFB tune the values changed quite a bit. Today, they should be taking it down again and see if the wires are loose.

Something that can happen to even the best of us with these is getting the two wires reversed, ion focus on the entrance lens and vice versa. Definitely give that a look. The other thing would be getting the ion focus flipped with the aperture facing the repeller instead of the entrance lens, which puts the pins far apart instead of next to each other.

From the description of the entrance lens ramp though I would definitely check for them being reversed.

If none of the above has happened, try a new set of insulators.
