balance time?

Dear friends...

I am getting this error message from the Refractive Index Detector:

Optical balance movement cannot detect home.

What does it mean? How do I fix this?

software: ChromQuest 4.2
Surveyor RI Plus Detector
Thermo Electron.

it is not a sotware problem but an hardware problem.
something to do with the optics.

most simple RI problems are related to the solvents found in the ref and smp cell.
make sure both are purged with the same solvent.
otherwise it is a more serious device problem
