I have a 5971 MSD. The MS temperature read out under "Vacuum status" is 369. The MS interface/transfer (DET B) is off.

I think it's a board problem with such a high reading. It doesn't change if you turn Detector B off or on or anything.

The setting when normally run is 310 C. The temp. on the interface usually reads 190 aproximately.

Thank you for any information.

I'm assuming you are running EI. There should be two different temperature parameters in the MSD, one for the source and one for the Quads. These are usually found in the manual tune page of the software. The transpher line is the controlled under the GC parameters in the method.
Which parameter is causing the problem in the MSD? It could be the a brake in the thermalcouple line. At times very high tempertures will appear when something like this ocurrs, the heating souce could be bad. Have you opened up the MSD to see if you can visually see any problems?
