thc-cooh (carboxylic acid) and similar components like steroids as I know It must be derivatized by bstfa or whatever so it can be detected by gc-ms. but in lc/ms it is not necessary to derivatization.

now, in gc-ms, if i run isothermally at 120C, it wouldn't reach the ms? and then can be ionised and detected?

Derivatisation with BSTFA is not done to make organic compounds detectable, it is done to make them volatile and thermally stable enough to get through the GC.
