Dear all,
I want to change the sample loop of the Waters 717plus autosampler to 100uL in order to minimize the system dead volume. Is there any one who has such practical experience ? For Waters 717plus autosampler, there are only two sizes of sample loop - 200 and 2000uL. Thanks a lot.

Just remove the existing loop (200 µL ?) and then install the 100 µL loop (the fittings are the same)

Simply replacing the loop will not reduce the volume enough to make a significant impact on the chromatography. The option is to install the Low Volume Stainless Steel Tubing Kit [WAT055886] for the 717.

AA: I have replaced the low volume stainless steel tubing kit already. However, I find that it only reduces the system dead volume between the pump and the autosampler but not the autosampler (or sample loop) to column.
Danko: In the front panel of 717plus, I can only select the sample loop of 200uL or 2000uL. Will there be any problem (instrument-wise) if I change the loop physically to 100uL but keep the sample loop setting on the panel to 200uL?
Thanks a lot.

No problem at all. Just choose 200 µL. It works perfectly with 100 µL loop.

Thanks a lot, Danko. I'd try and see how it improves my work.
