Does anyone know what range setting "S" (short) means on the display of a Jasco intelligent UV-VIS detector model 1575? There are a number of possible numerical 'Range' settings, increasing 2-fold from 0.0005 up to 2.56. Presumably these are sensitivity settings of Absorbance units per 10mV. I can't figure out what "S" represents.

The S setting stands for Short, and is to be used for test purposes only.
