I'm tring to construct (for training purposes) a plot in Excel from 1st principles that shows the relationship between d0 (the discrimination factor) Rs* (critical resolution to see a peak emerging as a valley) and the relative peak heights (hrp).
I've seen the following equation equation from Uwe Neue's HPLC Columns book:
d0 = 1 -2exp(-2Rs^2)
and would like to construct my own plots similar to that shown in Fig 16.2 of the the book or Fig 2 of the following paper: M. El Fallah & M. Martin, Discrimination Factor and effective peak capacity, Chromatographia, Vol. 24 (1987)115.
However I don't know where the (hrp) fits into the grand scheme of things and thus how to contruct the corrct plots. Can anyone help, it would be much appreciated .... cheers
