hi everybody!

Is there any of you out there who possibly still have a finnigan GCQ in "semi" working condition?

see, we have one, and obvioiusly there is no parts available for it anymore. about a month ago, the main PCB packs up.

firstly, we can't buy a new GC/MS now (budget cuts), and secondly, my collegue is very attached to the instrument, as it was the instrument who started the department and he knows it inside out.

so to get to the point, do any of you have a functioning PCB for the GCQ lying around somewhere in a basement that we could buy?

I would really appreciate it a lot!

There are usually quite a few GCQ systems around on the second hand market , look at www.labx.com in the States. There are also three or four service organisations in the UK who have collected GCQs so there should be a supply of boards and possiblt the ability to repair boards. If you are interested pm me your details and needs or use the response option from our web site.
Regards Richard

thanks Richard for the reply! tried pm you, seems its disabled! labx website - great!

what would something like that cost? because, it would be rediculous to try and fix this thing if it's going to cost as much as a new instrument.

The other thing is we sit here at the southern point of Africa, shipping will probably be more than board itself. A lot of companies in RSA still have GCQ's but all are still being used, or kept for spares.

Anyway, thanks!
i'll put in request on your website!

Spoken to an ex Thermo colleague of mine, his independent service company supports all the GCQs in the UK on behalf of Thermo. He has four GCQs to use for parts and will have what you need. Can't comment regarding shipping from the UK to you but if you send your details to me richard @ceinstruments.co.uk without the gap I can send you his details.

Regards Richard
