Hi Everyone,

I would like to know if anyone has analyzed menthol by HPLC using a UV-VIS detector. And before anyone suggests: I do not have a GC nor do I have an RI detector for the HPLC. :D

As far as I know, menthol isn't absorbed in the UV-VIS range, but I wanted to know if anyone has maybe modified a method so that a UV-VIS detector can be used. If not, has anyone assayed menthol using a spectrophotometer maybe instead?

I need to assay menthol as a raw material as well as in some cosmetic formulations. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

1. You can try to obtaine UV absobing menthol derivate ( for example esterification with suitable acid anhydride )
2. Try indirect detection.

Good luck!
