empty prep column

Hi all,
Does anyone know who makes and sells (retail) prep scale HPLC column hardware? I need an empty prep scale column to pack with catalyst as a reactor bed. I'm planning to do some process development between 1500 - 3000 psi, at 150 - 250°C.

Better yet, does anyone have a dead prep column in their "dead column" drawer that they just haven't had the heart to throw away? If your bean counters are willing to let me buy it for a nominal cost, let's talk! (Unless it is hot with a long half-life isotope, then never mind!)

what size do you need? I don't have one available but prep size column hardware is sold by Isolation Technologies (max ID 50mm I believe), Grace/Alltech (ID up to 100mm). Not sure about the pressure specs on those. Since the hardware is pretty expensive it is usually re-packed when the column dies. Good luck.

Yeah, I realized right after I hit "submit" that I forgot to mention dimensions.... My oven can accommodate a maximum linear length of about 30 cm. What that means with end caps and connections, I'm not sure. So I'd probably want no more than 25 cm column length. As for diameter, I'm not picky. Cost and availability will drive that. I expect that my reactant gas will fill the catalyst bed no matter the configuration.

Iso Tech looks good! Too bad they don't list prices on their web site, but their products and specs look very good for my needs. I'll hunt around Alltech's site too; I didn't think they sold any empty hardware, only branded, packed columns. But I'll hunt.

I would be wary about using a prep column at 250° and high pressure without talking to the manufacturer. There are companies that make equipment for this sort of thing. (One is/was Parr. I have used tubing from still another company, I might still have a catalog, if you are interested I can check).

Yes, there are definately some safety issues we need to be cognizant of, but thanks for the reminder! I will talk to tech service folk before we risk blowing things up!

(I've also now searched through Grace/Alltech's site and found interesting options there too.)
