While I have an autoinjector on my Agilent 1100 system, I sometimes use manual injection. Data collection is initiated by switching a Rheodyne valve (supplied by Agilent) which is connected electrically to the system.

Does anyone know of a way to initiate data collection with a keyboard press ie independent of valve switching and the adapted Agilent valve? I want to substitute a different Rheodyne valve without electrical connection for a few experiments....I'm not worried about an error of 1 second in the retention time between switching the valve and initiating the data collection. I could have sworn that I did this before by pressing the F5 key, but maybe this was a dream, or on a different instrument, as it no longer works....

Why don't you use the other valve that has not the electrical connection, but keep the valve with the connection on the system. You can then switch one valve for the injection and the other for data collection... (probably you can switch both at the same time)...

Thanks for your suggestion, but I tried that already and as Schmitty suggested it is quite awkward to do it quickly.

Surely the Chemstation has some facility for initiating the data collection with a key press?

It's even simpler than that. Put a blank vial in the autosampler, get your syringe ready, and when you hear the autosampler valve switch, switch your own rheodyne valve. This needs only one hand, so you've got a spare hand for whatever you want.

But alternatively, you could make the injection with the autosampler. They're quite good at it.

In Chemstation: Can I change the layout of a sequence summary report? I asked here a few times but no one responded...so maybe its not possible? I want all my extended statistics in a chart. Thanks!

Under second column from left, in Sample Info, leave the Vial No. blank and set up (like a blank run). Click Run Method there or under the second column heading to start data collection, gradient, etc., when you manually make the injection. There are keyboard shortcuts listed if you'd rather hit keys than click meese/mouses/mice.

My solution for the second valve would be to put a momentary contact press button switch across the start lines to the first valve, and press that when using the second valve.

Another possible solution is to set up a sequence ( may have to exclude the autosampler ) and you should get "waiting for injection ", and you can press the "run" icon. This used to work on old Chemstations, not sure about new versions.

OK Here's a couple of questions:

1. I have a Agilent 1100 with a Controller. Why do I need to start it twice. the first start would last about a minute.

2. There is a provision for a Auto On but no Auto Off. Why?When I need to go home I want the machine to go on analyzing for a given quantity of time after the last vial. I use to be able to do this with the HP 1050 at one of the modules.

Hi!

I have a question regarding chemstation installation. I installed the chemstation and used the default IP adress viz. 10.1.1.100 for PC, 10.1.1.101 for LC, 255.255.255.0 as subnet mask and 10.1.1.100 as gateway. After installing BootP also my HPLC 1100 modules are not communicating with my PC. No messages appear on CAG BootP server.

Could you please help me with this?
