Hey?

Anybody out there still running these old dinosaurs?
I've found a few people that can still keep them running.

Mine is running on an old Win 98 computer, that is on it's last legs,
Is there any option to upgrade computers, and software to keep this hardware running?

These were good instruments, and I'm sure there are a few still in service, I would like to hear from anybody with knowledge about them!
I have a few "parters" if that helps anyone!

Thanks!

I've worked in some labs that have had 5890s running XP and 2000. If you plan on still using them, you could try to build a "new" PC running XP.
We would get computers from NIXSYS to keep them going. 5890s are definitely workhorses.
We have 4 5890's running samples almost continuously M-F, with a 5th that we are trying to get up and running. They are manually injected and use 3396 integrators.

newlabrat92 what did you mean by having a few "parters"?

I'm assuming he/she is referring to instruments that aren't functional, but serve as sources to scavenge parts from.
I've got some used Agilent parts, some 1050 parts, and some computer boards for sale; post your E-mail address here and I'll respond as this site has no private messaging, and you can make a legitimate offer for all or individual parts. Very reasonable. Parts are used in good condition except where detailed as new. I can accept PayPal, or money order (no charge cards); I have sold parts on this site several times in the past, and no complaints.

I believe that I still have these GC parts, very reasonable; if anyone is interested, I'll re-check.
