My lab is considering getting a Micromass Q-TOF 2.
Does anyone have experience with it and can give me some feedback.
My lab is mostly involved in small molecule identification and quantification from plant extracts.
Thanks.

For identification it's OK.

But for quantification, the dynamic range is not the best...

The Agilent TOF has been on the market for 4 years...dynamic range for quantitation ~about 5 orders magnitude...MassHunter software is great.
Hardware has been really thought thru for accuracy less then 2ppm.
Look at them and let us know what happened..

QTOF2 is a few models short of 'current'. Are you getting this 2nd (3rd?) hand from somewhere. I'm not sure Waters will even support this anymore, check that your local agent will. Some of the third party contractors might.

Masslynx is pretty good software, and the QTOF fairly easy to use. It depends what you want to do with it, quantification isn't the strong point of a Quad/TOF hybrid. If you don't need to do MSMS for your identification studies then this probably isn't the most suitable instrument for you.
