Hi to all,
I would like to know how to calibrate the refrigirator for the temperature parameter, which is used for the preservation of reference standards.
Any suggestions are more appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Depends on the compendium you are following. I'd look into ICH guidelines first. I suspect it will involve the use of a thermocouple with a NIST traceable calibration record of its own, and some recording of termperatures in various areas of the unit.

You don't calibrate the refrigerator you monitor the temp in the refrigerator with a calibrated thermometer. They have relatively inexpensive battery oper NIST tracable ones with about 6 ft wire and probe. Put the probe in a 40 mL vial with glycerin to temper spikes from opening the door and record the min max each day in a log. Buy a new one before the expiry on the back and just pitch the old (well, not really, but don't use it on anything GLP).

Our company uses an external specialists to do this. They are equipped with calibrated and traceable device with min. 5 channels (thermometer sensors) which are placed within an empty measured refrigerator (rows, middle, each shelf) and record temperature profile for several hours (minimum are three cycles min.-max.). Then is the same procedure performed with load. Finally is tested how quickly restores desired temperature after door opening.

Refrigerator calibration depends on the type and brand of the ref that you have. One of the materials they use in calibration is thermocouple that has traceable NIST. You can also search over the net and find some good tips.
