Hi everybody,

we have to analyze the contents of policosanols (mainly saturated C28-C32) in one product. We have searched in the literature but all the methods that we have find are old, use packed column or are not quantitative. Does anyone have some updated references or any experience on this kind of analysis? Does anybody knows some suppliers of analytical standard for: Nonacosanol, Dotriacontanol and Tetratriacontanol?

Thanks in advance for any answer,

Have a good day

Hi

Found a "vague" reference to:
For the analysis of M.H.P.A.A. through gas chromatography in fused silica capillary column, these are derivatized by means of N methyl-N-TMS-trifluoroacetamide (MSTFA).

See if you can find something there

Hi David,

There was an article in Food Chemistry
Volume 95, Issue 2, March 2006, Pages 312-318.

Title: Policosanol contents of beeswax, sugar cane and wheat extracts

Based on abstract looks like they used GC/MS.
