High split ratio alternative

Task:
Switch to N2 carrier gas

Current practices:
He carrier gas, backpressure-regulated GC's (Agilent). A decent amount of work is injecting neat solvents for purity, use 400:1 split ratio to prevent overload. He is limited by EPC to a total flow of 1250mL/min.

Challenge:
N2 is limited by EPC to a total flow of 200mL/min. The 400:1 split ratio isn't possible.

Any suggestions?

Dilute the sample.

Are your impurities overloading the column? If not, you could try a splitless injection to get rid of the solvent tail.

What detector are you using?

What are the dimensions of the column you are using?

Different options can be found depending on more information.

Phosgina,

what is keeping you from using H2 instead of N2?

Best regards,
