Finally have our mass spec fixed after having been down about 6 weeks. It’s an older model API 100 single quad LC/MS but quite a workhorse. Started with replacing a rough pump and then it still would fail to pump down. Put a new Turbo pump on and found it was the controller box. Seeing as they no longer make the controller box but you can outfit it with the controller box for the 3000 if you upgrade the turbo to the 250 (also like the 3000) that is what we did. Took close to 4-5 weeks to get the conversion kit and everything necessary. Spent the day with the guy putting it all back together and she pumped down to 0.8. It’s been 6-8 yrs since I’ve seen it that low. Proceeded to infuse a PPG and it was right on the money!

I have been running our 3000 practically 24/7 to keep up and it will be nice to have this little jewel running again! It was expensive but I would have hated to lose this instrument, it was like my first LC/MS if you know what I mean. And now she’s supercharged!
