Coax interface for Varian CP-3800

Hi
we are using a RJ45 to BNC converter for our Scion-GC instruments. i wanted to know that whether a 10Base-2/T converter works for Varian CP3800?
Does it also work for Agilent GC systems?

Find a 10BaseT/2 hub with BNC port

Connect old instruments to coax segment at BNC port and new instruments to RJ45 modular ports.
Both Agilent and Varian would work happily on 10Mbps

Or as you have said convert Base2 media using converters into BaseT - and connect all of them to switch.

Its a matter of physical Ethernet level, software/firmware see this transparently.
