Does anyone do GCMS on underivatised amines and or nitrosamines? If so what sort of conditions/columns are preferred?

If you look at EPA methods 625 and 8270 (available at:
http://www.nemi.gov/apex/f?p=237:1:1639 ... _CUR_TAB:C as PDFs) they are analyzing for a fair number of these compounds. Beyond these, and using whatever version of a standard capillary column such as a 30M x 0.25 mm id (or something close in dimensions) 5% phenyl - methyl silicone, I have found the primary and secondary amines generally chromatograph OK, tertiary are dependent on the particular compounds, and a fair number of nitrosoamines work beyond what's listed in the EPA methods.

The Restek RTX-5 Amine column (we usually use 30 m x 0.53 mm x 5 um) has worked well for residual amines for our studies.
