I was doing some housecleaning in the LC lab this week and found a stash of used/spent deuterium lamps (>10) from our Agilent 1050 and 1100 LC's. Are these things we can just throw in the trash or do they need to be handled in a specific way? Can they be recycled?

My old D2 lamps go into the industrial waste bins, which just go to be crushed and buried at the local Council rubbish tip.

If in doubt about local regulations, ask your site manager's staff.

Most old lab items that might attract attention from casual bin divers ( people that forage through waste bins ), like instrument lamps, are placed in sealed, opaque, plastic garbage bags before dumping.

Please keep having fun,
