can i analyse coloured compounds by HPLC
Discussions about GC-MS, LC-MS, LC-FTIR, and other "coupled" analytical techniques.

i want to kow whether i can carry out analysis of natural coloured compounds(carotenoids etc) by HPLC or it will effect column by some means???

Hi
Carotenoids is a HUGE group but a quick search in Journal of Chromatography B gave me some articles (see examples below), so obviously you can do it on LC at least some of them.
1.
Rapid quantitative determination of fat-soluble vitamins and coenzyme Q-10 in human serum by reversed phase ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography with UV detection

Yes you can analyze these compounds by HPLC. Whether or not to
use RP or NP is usually dependant on sample solvent, detector, selectivity, ect. Below are links to some chromatograms:

Hello Parveenga; what kind of sample you want to analyze?
there are a lot of information about it; I used to analyze pigments form algea; instead to go to the microscope I did extracted the pigment and went to the HPLC; this way I could to determinate presecen of certain tipes of algaes.

There is no problem with colored compounds... This is why they call it chromatography (chromos - color, graphein - writing).
