Hello!

I am new on this forum and would really like to hear some experiences with PL ELS 1000 detector, which we have in our lab. I am the first one who uses this detector in our lab. The sensitivitiy of the detector is just fine, but I got another problem. And that is the: evaporation of organic solvents (such as THF, CHCl3, ACN...). We have bottle traps for condensat, which are in the lab. The thing is that in spite of that, our lab is full of solvent vapour and many times i have problem with headaches.

What to do?What are u experiences?

Regards,
Tina

ELSD's (from any vendor) need to be vented! The trap bottle will never collect all of the vapors.

The instructions from your ELSD manual should instruct you to have the exit line from the solvent trap venting to a fume hood or extract vent.

I'm surprised that you have only had headaches so far.
