cost of method development/ new stationary phase

hello,
in order to finish my study on peptides, does anybody knows what outsourcing development of methodoly by RP-HPLC purification costs for the production of new peptide ? And also cost of development of new stationary phase RP-HPLC for one particular peptide ? I couldn't find any indication yet, but is urgent.
Thanks a lot.

The price will depend heavily on the length of the peptide that you want to syntesize , if your peptide will only contain the 20 proteinogenic amino acids or modified ones, the purity that you want to achieve and of course how much you want to buy (it gets cheaper the more your order). You might want to google for companies that syntesize peptides for a living and look at the price per residue and price depending on the purity.
You do not have to develop every time a stationary phase in order to purify a peptide. Depending on your peptide you can buy an appropriate column, most of the cases you will need some type of reverse phase column.

thanks for quick reply kostas. and sorry if i put my question wrongly . this was only focused on QC control for purity control by RP-HPLC at final stage . I cannot take the whole process of purification into my study, will take too long .
Otherwise, I don't think any RP-columns can solve my problem, i need really new phase i have in my mind .

I am sorry but I do not quite understand what really your question is. Are you asking how much will it cost for a contract laboratory to assess the purity of your peptide?
Also I would be impressed if none of the commercial columns out there can help with the purification of your peptide. You seem to imply that you are going to develop a new reversed phase type column (that does not exist out there already) that will be suitable for the purification or analysis of your peptide or something else (what do you want exactly to develop a new RP column for?). Unless you are talking about an antibody type column which in this case is not RP type column...

Excactly for the fisrt topic, highest purification possible.
For the second topic, maybe the consideration for new phase is not realistic, but my paper is about cost-saving study for the peptide industry. So I wanted a one-step RP purification , and I thought maybe cheaper to define excactly the functionality of the phase, rather than testing out a lot of available culumns.
What you think , please ?

HPLCgroupEurope,
The stationary phase is not the only parameter that can be varied in order to achieve a purification or analytical separation for that matter - in fact, far from it. So, mobile phase, temperature, flow rate etc. can be the tools you should look at. And only in the context of a particular peptide/protein (they all have different properties)
Generally, if your project is; finding a single stationary phase and standard chromatographic conditions for purification and analysis of all thinkable peptides, I’ll have to disappoint you – you’ll fail.
I was (unwillingly) involved in such a project, recently. And even though I predicted the outcome, we had to go through the project, which of course ended up with a useless collection of different stationary phases, mobile phase compositions and other parameters. The situation now is: Just going through all this information, takes longer time than developing a new method from scratch - because none of all this parameters can be directly applied on two different peptides/proteins.
All these projects aim at a potential elimination of the need for knowledge and professionalism and this is the main problem with this conception.
Best Regards and good luck.

Dear Dancho,
Your answer is very intresting, and confirmed actually my approach.
If not too much to ask me to contact by e-mail,please ?
Thanks a lot.

I would gladly exchange more thoughts on this subject with you – privately if you wish so.
Best Regards
Tom, would you please help by sending my e-mail address to HPLCgroupEurope?
Thank you.
