I know H=L/N, and I want to maintain the same number of theoretical plates while reducing plate height by 1/3

Would I have to increase length of column or decrease it to have this scenerio

If you're altering H and holding N constant, I suspect your only course of action is to alter L. Rearrange h=l/n to get nh=L, if you multiply h by 2/3, you'll have to do the same to l.

Why do you want to decrease H by 1/3 ?
